If you have journeyed truly and well, taken the time to pause and reflect along the way, then the destination will be a haven, whatever form it may take.
A one bedroom with ensuite, fully self-contained free-standing addition to an existing elevated home. Site restrictions influenced the angled walls which allow cross-flow throughout the year.
Had great fun with the interiors on this one!

Part of a staged development which also included a triple carport and shed to suit, is this freestanding entertainment area addition to an existing ground level home in the rural area.
A most suitable space for grandad's pool table.

A flexible space that can accommodate the daily family activities and also provide a retreat for the adults to gather, entertain and chill out in.
The brief required it to be accessible to the existing semi-elevated dwelling which is achieved via a covered entry deck that services both existing and new and creates a defined pedestrian entrance, be open to the garden and pool area and to provide shelter from the rain, mosquitoes and marauding midnight possums. There was also a request for something more organic in form and a little bit different.
I love it.
renovations and extensions
A relocated elevated RAAF home required the conversion of the existing main bedroom and ensuite into a separate area for the mum of one of the clients.
This was achieved through the addition of a kitchenette, dining/living area and deck with staircase.

There were a few elements to this one. The addition of an ensuite to the first floor master with carport below, including a pathway, to create a defined point of pedestrian entry.
The ground level bathroom renovation included the addition of a screened outdoor shower area, while the outdoor freestanding covered area becomes the central poiont for the new pool and (the owner's labour of love) landscaped tiered gardens.
Creating one angled wall to an existing corner enabled a smooth connection to all new outside areas from the inside.

concepts and competitions
Sometimes you have to take a moment to simply have a bit of fun and unplug reality. This competition entry was one of those delightful moments.
A couple of my favourite features are: the semi open air suspended soaking tub with two way mirror at the entrance; the tri-level tower with upper level mezzanine at the rear which could serve a multitude of functions, and; the mini rock climbing wall for those spare moments.
As a nature girl, I also love the fact that movement between the spaces involves interaction with the outdoors.
Fresh air - nice!
The ground level of this began life as the alternative concept for Yron's Yurt.
At odd moments you need a creative break from working drawings so I took this as an opportunity to play with architectural symmetry while the interior architectural arrangements had different functions. It has kept me amused.

An existing elevated home that having already had a couple of renovations with previous owners had a labyrinth of columns at ground level which had to be integrated into the new ground level plans to fully enclose and house two bedrooms, powder room, laundry, a defined entrance and foyer and staircase. A nice puzzle to have.
First floor works included (but were not limited to) the addition of a master suite to the rear balcony and a new study to the side balcony.
Owner/builder is not for the fainthearted but this couple have managed it wonderfully.
